About Us

Injalak Arts and Crafts Association is located in Gunbalanya (Oenpelli) in western Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory of Australia. Injalak aims to promote and preserve the Indigenous art and culture of western Arnhem Land and is an Indigenous owned not-for-profit organisation.

 

Injalak artists produce:

1. Art on bark and paper in the style synonymous with western Arnhem Land,

2. A large range of fibre art in a variety of styles and colours made from pandanus and using natural dyes,

3. Mako (Didjeridoo), artefacts and carvings,

4. Screen printed materials such as t-shirts and fabric, all printed onsite,

5. Books and greeting cards.

 

Injalak enjoys a reputation as a producer of high quality art steeped in cultural traditions dating back thousands of years. We hold exhibitions throughout the year in all Australian capital cities. Works are also exhibited internationally and held in some of the finest collections, museums, and galleries of the world.
