The community of Gunbalanya (Oenpelli) in western Arnhem Land invites you to join us for Open Day 2008. The much anticipated Gunbalanya Open Day is scheduled for 23 August 2008. On this day visitors are welcome to come to the community without a permit and share in the many and diverse activities taking place. This includes the local sports carnival, rock art tours, cultural dancing, basketball games, scenic flights, bush tucker samples, and didjeridu playing demonstrations plus visits to the local community art centre (Injalak Arts and Crafts). Local bands will headline the days musical festivities. Painting and fibre art demonstrations will take place at the local art centre all day. Gunbalanya Cultural Open Day is a day not to miss.
